The Next Man You Meet

What if Jesus Christ

Has already arrived

And is somewhere on earth

                                    Preaching unheard verse

                I wonder who will design

His method of being crucified

Who will claim his eyes and actions

Define an unstable situation

What if he was in prison

No chance of parole or probation

What if he was on death row

Surrounded by disciples and apostles

Doing time for crimes of the mind

                                 What if Jesus was in rehab

               For bad habits his mother had

Would if he was practicing insanity

As a test for organized Christianity

What if his time was all in vain

Because of the sins of the Saints

                                What if he died in hunger

                    Freezing cold in dumpster

What if the next man you meet

Begging on Main Street

Is the one to show you a sign

That the time has arrived
