Canyon Creek
In my wild as hell teens I stole cigarettes at Walgreens
Then we head to Johnny’s house to huff gasoline
His mom would give us money for pulling garden weeds
Then we paid a coed to buy a case of old Milwaukee
Then a couple of wild girls and Johnny and me
Would head to Canyon Creek to tell lies and drink
We built fire then would play guitar and sing
Get under the blankets and make out till morning
Now miles down the road I’m 60 something
I watch a lot of TV and don’t do anything
Johnny burned out his brain and his liver
And died in December in a cold dumpster
I drink beer and think how it used to be
With those wild chicks and me and Johnny
Once in a while I steal cigarettes at Walgreens
And take a huff of gasoline just for Johnny
Occasionally I head down to Canyon Creek
To built a big fire and play guitar and drink
With a case of old Milwaukee and Johnny’s memory
